Classes & groups

Art classes with a tutor are offered each term to members and non-members. Term 1 runs from February to June and Term 2 July to December annually.  Tutors are engaged from the region and from around Australia. Our aim is to provide innovative and up-to-date activities and knowledge across a wide range of subject matter and mediums for artists of all levels of experience.

Bookings are essential. All workshops, art talks and regular art sessions will be held at the Mayday Hills Art Society, Kurrajong Way, Mayday Hills unless otherwise advised.  Workshop prices include individual tuition and morning and afternoon teas in a relaxed and friendly environment. Students will need to bring their own lunch. Classes are held from 9.30am to 4.00pm each day, unless noted.  Where indicated, a list of art materials will be provided.

 

For workshops that involve guest tutors a 10% deposit will be required to hold your booking, with balance of payment due a week prior to workshop/s. Contact Christine.

Introduction to Mandala painting

Relax, Connect, Create. Learn about Mandalas and create your own exquisite art piece for yourself or as a gift. You will receive individual instruction in a relaxed, safe and supportive space. 

 

Come along and connect with a group of like-minded people in a relaxed space, as you lean into your creative self and paint your Mandala masterpiece. Please note that places in this workshop are limited so that each person gets the required attention to finish their piece. Marie looks forward to guiding you through the incredibly rewarding Mandala creation process. You will paint your unique Mandala on a 51cm x 51cm square using high quality acrylic paints. No prior painting experience is required. Marie will guide you step-by-step through the Mandala creation process.

Workshop

Introduction to botanical art

with

During this two day intensive workshop for beginners students will be guided step-by-step through the basics needed to understand and enjoy the fascinating world of botanical art. Students will learn how to observe light and to be aware of tone in drawings, to sketch and compose and to understand the methods for mixing watercolours. The aim will be to draw a live plant specimen in order to apply the techniques necessary to render a fine painting. 

Students will leave with a finished painting and have the tools and techniques to continue with botanical art as a hobby.

Groups

Botanical art group

On the first Wednesday of each month, the botanical art group meets at the Wooragee Community Hall, Beechworth - Wodonga Road.

 

Participants bring along their painting project, something to share for morning tea, lunch and $5 to enjoy a day of painting in comfortable surrounds.
